St. Joseph’s Food Pantry is looking for individuals who share our commitment to end hunger in Salem.

St. Joseph's Food Pantry has a growing demand for volunteers to make all the programs possible. If you can help with any of these open positions, please let us know. THANKS!


We are searching for volunteers who may be retired and have consistent hours to give and may have professional skills for the following positions:

  • Volunteer Delivery Drivers:
    We need four new delivery drivers. You would delivery food to households on the North Shore (mostly Salem). You could work once a week or once a month. The hours are eitherTuesday, Wednesday, or Thursdays any time after 10:30 am to 1 pm. You choose. You own vehicle needed.
  • Volunteer Delivery Director:
    You do not deliver. You co-ordinate and supervise the volunteers in the program.
    You need computer skills for record keeping. You should be able to volunteer about 10 hours a week.
  • Volunteer “Babies With Blues” Director:
    Coordinate and take care of the needs of our Mothers and Babies. Approximately
    10 hours a week. You can set the hours any times during Monday-Tues-Wed- or Thur,
    any hours between 10:30 am and 4 pm. Computer skills needed. Good people skills, phone work, and reports to the Director.
  • Volunteer PR Person:
    You would attend meetings such as The Hunger Network, The Salem Chamber of Congress,
    Salem Hope, AGM meetings and other meetings and promote the pantry in the community. You would be a very independent person and report to the Director.
  • Vounteer Church PR Person:
    You need Microsoft Word computer skills for Church Bulletin Notices. You would visit different parishes and work with individuals there to make sure there are envelopes and holders at each church. Good phone skills. You could even work at home. If you work in the pantry, any hours Mon-Tues-Wed-Thu- 10:30 am - 4 pm. About 4-6 hours a week.
  • Volunteer Web and online Assistant:
    Help control our email and correspondence online as well as update and help
    with the design of our Web page. Emails and online correspondence needs daily attention.
    Perhaps one hour daily on Monday, Tues, Wed and Thu.
  • Volunteer Administrative Assistant: Handle phone messages and meetings. Write letters and documents for Mrs. Campbell. Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu- 10:30am – 4 pm

    THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS ARE AT VARIOUS TIMES AND COULD BE DONE ON A WEEKLY OF MONTHLY BASIS;
    • Bagging Food
    • Working in Store Tues and Thursday 3-7pm-
    • Stocking-unloading deliveries- helping with pick ups of products.
